Families of 40-Year Olds With Down Syndrome Janet Carr
Abstract A population sample of people with Down syndrome (DS) and their families has been followed since the age of six weeks, most recently at the age of 40 when there were 28 people with DS and 16 non-disabled controls still in the study. The paper looks at the well-being of the parents and siblings of both groups, and focuses on their health, social life and friendships, and, in the case of those in the DS group, on their experience of services.
