AbstractPersons with intellectual disabilities are at a higher risk of experiencing abuse than members of the general population. The 3Rs: Rights, Respect and Responsibility training program was developed to contribute to abuse prevention. This program has been pilot tested with adults who have intellectual disabilities and staff members in a community agency. The initial results of staff training show a significant post training improvement in staff members' ability to identify rights violations in test scenarios, the nature of the violations, and possible solutions. The need for the use of innovative, multimedia program evaluation for individuals with intellectual disabilities is discussed.
