Geneva Centre for
Autism
"Here you will find a wealth of information on Autism/PDD and
related disorders." You can find articles on autism, book
references, reading, video, and publication lists, link to sites
relevant to your interest in Autism/PDD, and you can share your
thoughts, experiences, and comments with others in the Discussion
Form.
Kerry's Place
Autism Services
"Kerry's Place is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization
dedicated to serving young persons with autism, a severe developmental
disability that disrupts communication, sensory processing, movement
and behaviour." Kerry's Place Autism Services offers the
following clinical services: Psychological/Behavioural Assessments,
Diagnostic Assessments, Assessments for Supported Independent Living
and half or full day Workshops/Presentations. This site includes a
link to Living with Autism the Kerry's Place newsletter on-line.
LifeTRUST
Planning
The purpose of LifeTRUST Planning is to guide families across Canada
through estate planning to assure their child's future financial
security, quality of life, and peace of mind. Life Trust offers
Educational Seminars for Parents of People with a Disability, and
Educational Seminars and Workshops for Associations, parent support
groups, professionals, schools, government agencies, life insurance
brokers and financial advisors.
REENA - Services for
people with developmental disabilities
Reena is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to integrating
individuals who have a developmental disability into the mainstream of
society. Established by parents of children with developmental
disabililities, as a practical alternative to institutions, Reena
strives to create and maintain an environment that respects and
promotes dignity, individuality, independence, and freedom of choice
within a framework of Jewish culture and values. This site provides
access to descriptions of the comprehensive services and supports
provided by Reena. Included is a link to contact information related
to Reena's Staff Development opportunities generally open for
participation by employees of other agencies providing supports and
services for people who have a developmental disability.
Regional
Support Associates
Regional Support Associates is a group of specialists in developmental
disabilities and dual diagnosis who provide assessment, treatment and
training services.Services are offered to the individual, their
families and agencies supporting them in their community. There are no
fees for clinical services provided within the counties of Middlesesx,
Oxford, Elgin, Huron, Perth, Haldimand and Norfolk. Training and
education services offered throughout these coounties are accessible
to any individual outside this catchment area at a modest fee. Current
workshop information and on-line registration are available on this
site.
Roeher
Institute
The Roeher Institute research examines how social structures and
government policy affect the well being and human rights of people
with an intellectual impairment and other disabilities. Complete
information on research published by the Institute is available in
their Publications Catalogue.
Safeguards
Children’s Services Training
Safeguards is a joint training project of five provincial associations
in the children's services sector. It began in 1995 to ensure that
people could access training that meets the specific needs of the
field. The annually revised workshop series listing is available as is
on line registration.
Special
Needs Opportunity Windows (S.N.O.W.) at University of Toronto
SNOW (Special Needs Opportunity Windows) is a project aimed at
supporting educators of students with special needs. The web site
serves as a clearinghouse of practical resources and curriculum
materials, as a place for educators to meet and share ideas, and as a
place for educators to develop their professional skills. Your
contributions are welcomed. You will find this site has extensive
links to PDD information, online workshops and courses, general and
specialist workshops for educators in the Province of Ontario and how
to register, and a discussion forum for teachers of students with
special needs.
