About the
Ontario Association on Developmental Disabilities

OADD is a professional organization of people working and studying in the field of developmental disabilities, throughout Ontario.

OADD's members include agencies and organizations; university and community college students and instructors; service provider direct care staff and managers; family support workers; case managers; psychologists; social workers; and other dedicated individuals.

We publish an academic journal

OADD publishes the Journal on Developmental Disabilities three times yearly. Assembled by a distinguished editorial board, each issue features stimulating research on issues relevant to developmental disabilities.

We host an annual conference

Every year we host a conference, where students and professionals in the field learn about the latest best practices, policy decisions, and research. It's an opportunity to network with experts and to meet talented students eager to join the ranks.

We recognize excellence

OADD members support promising scholars and reward conscientious professionals with three $1,000 scholarships and six awards. Association members nominate their peers and we present the awards at our annual conference. Organizational and Patron members can now list awards and scholarship on our site.

We report on issues, events, trends

Through our newsletter, brOADDcast, we publish brief and informal articles submitted by families, service providers, students and researchers.

We work with researchers and front line staff

We set aside a pre-conference day for our affiliated groups with more focused interests:
